St. Dominic’s College is a member of the Independent Schools Association of Southern African (ISASA), with 3 schools on its 18 hectare campus. The pre-primary, primary and high schools are all situated on the one property but are divided into their own individual campuses. Therefore our pre-primary toddlers already have a feeling of being a part of the bigger “St. Dominic’s Family” creating a wonderful sense of belonging. It also develops in them a sense of wanting to develop and achieve as they take their “little steps to big school”. Our aim is to provide our children an environment that develops each child’s unique personality. The emphasis is on encouraging the moral and spiritual growth of the children along Christian lines, as well as intellectual and social development. A sound foundation education produces good citizens, who care about other people; it produces youngsters able to discipline themselves and continue developing their minds throughout their school years. St. Dominic’s College Pre-Primary operates on large, modern premises. The buildings house four spacious playrooms: 1 Grade 00, 1 Grade 0, and 2 Grade R groups on the Primary School premises. The daily programme has been structured along prescribed pre-school lines to enrich each child’s experiences and guide him/her towards school readiness. The groups follow a thematic approach with art, stories, music, drama and movement being incorporated into each theme. There are covered sandpits, shady verandas and the playrooms are well equipped with modern educational toys and teaching aids. The outdoor area has been designed as an exciting environment where each child can safely extend his/her physical, social and emotional development. Our teachers are all qualified, creative, enthusiastic and, especially, caring people who have the children’s best interests at heart. We also have wonderful assistants to help in the classrooms.
