Infant Care Centre
St Dominic’s College is one of the oldest and best resourced independent schools in the Free State. Opened in 1952, St Dominic’s College has offered the Welkom community our excellent education founded on our Catholic Christian ethos for 60 years. Strong Christian values, dedicated, caring teachers and small classes remain the hallmark of St Dominic’s life.
Little Saints is an exceptional nursery school ably led by Mrs Jenny Mortlock, who is herself one of Welkom’s household names in early childhood development.
In January 2012 our new baby care section opens and will cater for babies from 3 months to 12 months. This will give new moms the confidence to enrol their children into a school that will give their baby the most nurturing and loving environment available.
In the company of Pooh Bear, Tigger, Piglet, Eeyore, Rabbit, Owl and Roo you can be assured that your child will be given the best opportunity for development, stimulation and attention to detail.

Daily Routine
Baby school opens at 07h00 daily and your baby will be received by either Gayle or Emily. The Infant Care Centre closes promptly at 17h00.
You will be supplied with a monitor booklet. We will use this booklet daily to report back to you on how many nappies were used, how many bowel movements your child had, how many bottles he/she drank, as well as report back on any unusual behaviour such as restlessness, coughing, fever etc. We will also note milestones eg “sat alone for first time” or “appearance of first tooth” etc. It is important that you are able to get a quick overview on the general welfare of your baby during the day.
Holiday Arrangements
Our Infant Care Centre is open during all school holidays, except for Public Holidays. However, the Centre will close during the 3-week holiday period over the Festive Season.
